Internships are stages in a company, institution in national or international level where students acquires certain professional skills:
  • They are temporaly defined
  • They are accepted by the University
  • They are supervised by and experienced professional

Internships are regulated by an Educational Cooperation agreement (see Procedure: "Interships" on the Catalan version).

Method and characteristics of Internship
Academic conditions of internships

Internships can be: curricular and extracurricular; national and international:

Curricular:
  • They are part of the study plan and they need to be enrolled.
  • Depending on the study plan, they can be mandatory or optional. Duration will be determined by the study plan.

Extracurricular:
  • They are not part of the study plan.
  • Extracurricular internships can not be recognized for curricular internships.
  • Schools can establish limitations regarding students academic performance.

National
:
  • Performed in companies, institutions and public or private corporations in national leve.

International
:
  • Performed by students who carry out an international exchange with a Host University.
  • Performed by students through an international institution and without a Host University (Erasmus Placement, Becas Faro Global i altres).
  • Performed by students in an international company with an agreement without a Host University or International Instittution.

Interships can be performed by enrolled students and:
  • in 1st and 2nd cycle degrees and BSc programmes who have passed more than the 50% of credits
  • in 2nd cycle degrees and MSc programmes who have passed the Selective Phase.

To perform any of these internships it is necessary to contract an insurance. Students older than 28 years or students who performe an international internship must contract a private insurance.

The method of Internship depends on the degree:
  • BSc programmes and MSc programmes: extracurricular and curricular internships
  • 1st and 2nd cycle degrees and MSc programmes: extracurricular internships.

Internships can not last more than 900 hours during the same academic year (between the 16th of September of the current year and the 15th of September of the following year).

Students can do internships a maximum of hours depending on the study programme:
  • BSc of 240 ECTS: max 1800h
  • MSc of 60 ECTS: max 600h
  • MSc of 90 ECTS: max 900h
  • MSc of 120ECTS max 1200h
