logo_etseib_rectangleedifici_angle_dret 'Escuela Industrial Barcelonesa' was created in 1851, clustering the technical and scientific chairs created by the Board of Trade since 1769. This School has been the only one that has been operating without interruption until today. Classes were first taught in the former convent of San Sebastian (now closed), near the Llotja. In 1873, the School moved to the University building, in the square with the same name, and in 1927 moved to the former  factory Can Batlló ( calle Urgell ). Finally, in 1964, it settled at the current building in Avinguda Diagonal.

Over 18,000 students have graduated from this School and they have contributed decisively to the industrialization and technological development, social and cultural life of Catalonia and Spain. The school was, in 1971, one of the Institutions that constitutied what is now Barcelona Tech (UPC).
